Darry Neill Captures Trio of GANPA Awards

APS Member Darryl Neill was awarded First Place in the Georgia Nature Photographer's Association 2020 competition in the "Birds" category. His winning entry, Robin on Beautyberry, was a standout in this huge competition with over 500 entries across various categories.

Darryl also took First Place in the "Wildlife" category for A Night Visitor on My Deck. According to Darryl, "The photo, of a young possum who showed up on my deck, looks a lot like a cute stuffed animal. [Its] too bad they become rather ugly and hiss at you when they grow up!"

And that's not all - he also won Second Place in the "Wildlife" category for his macro of a Black Widow female spider. Darryl describes how he (carefully) made the image, "[I] found [the spider] on the underside of the hood on my son's car and photographed [it] hanging from a branch over my dining room table. As many of us know, dining room tables are an essential piece of photographic equipment."

The exquisite warm lighting and expert "wranging" of her subjects made Jennifer's On a Country Road in Texas a big favorite of APS members too.

Steve Director Wins Big in New England

Hearty congratulations go to member Steve Director for two big wins in major competitions in the Northeastern US! (And apologies for this old news! Steve is too modest - he should have told us sooner.)

And his wonderful wildlife image, A Mothers' Love, won First Place in the New England Camera Club Council Interclub Competition – Nature,  Spring 2019.
