About Mike Shaefer
Originally from Indianapolis, Mike Shaefer moved to Atlanta in 2006. He resides in Midtown and works as a Clinical Pharmacist at Kaiser Permanente. However, photography and travel are his true passions. Mike is currently President of the Atlanta Photographic Society.

Mike discovered photography during 1980. His first experience as a photographer was in High School, where as a senior, Mike was the primary yearbook photographer. He was recognized for this work by winning The Indianapolis High School Yearbook Photographer of the Year Award. This experience initiated Mike’s lifetime passion for photography.

Since his High School years, Mike continued to pursue photography when his busy schedule allowed. While at Purdue University, Mike received Best in Show in Purdue’s annual photography competition.

While working as a Pharmacist in Evansville, Indiana, Mike won first place in the The Evansville Courier and Journal’s annual photography contest. However, it was not until his first extended trip to Europe during 1990 when Mike’s love of photography began to soar. Since that first trip to Europe, Mike has visited nearly 60 countries, including Antarctica.

Mike’s portfolio represents nearly every genre of photography. His photographic style seeks elements of color and design to make images which inspire. For Mike, the best images are those that are expressive, communicative, persuasive, and share the deep insights that we as artists feel are worth sharing.  Mike Shaefer's images contribute to the conversation of life and humanity and bring forth all the issues that makes art worth pursuing.
