I am a retired physician, living with my wife, Liz,  in North Augusta, South Carolina. We moved from Indiana in 2006 to escape the harsh winters and be closer to family.

For the past 40 years, I have been loving and learning the art of Photography. Starting out with film and the chemical darkroom, and then discovering the digital world almost 20 years ago, I am continually amazed at the influence technology has had (and continues to have) on this medium.

In 2011, when I was unable to find a photography club locally, I searched for a club that would be educational, competitive and fun. I found that and much more when I joined APS. Although I had to travel about 2.5 hours to Atlanta, I always looked forward to Competition nights.

Since I post-process and print my own images, it was great to finally find a club where so many members did the same and shared their techniques and critiques.

I got to know many wonderful and talented photographers at the meetings, Christmas parties  and field trips. Though I don’t do the commute any more, I keep my membership active and now enter the digital competitions. But, I do miss the regular fellowship and camaraderie.

Always remember, there is beauty and magnificence all around us - whether the subject is Nature, Landscape, or People. It's a great time to be a photographer.
