Web super-surfers may have already noticed the nice 2nd place award emblem at the bottom of our home page.

2nd Place Award - 2017 PSA Website Contest

Competing with photography clubs across the United States (and the world), the Atlanta Photographic Society received 2nd Place in the Photographic Society of America's 2017 web site contest.  This award was in the "small" clubs division - those with less than 75 members.

Judging

Judging was done by a team of four PSA judges who thoroughly evaluated all the sites entered.  The evaluation included 47 factors grouped into five categories: first impressions, design, content, site effectiveness and professionalism.  The APS site was judged "excellent" in all those categories.

First Impressions

Some of the judges comments on their first impressions: "Your background image is magnificent." And, "There was lots of color and an interesting image for the background."  On site content they said, "The amount of articles you provide is great for your members."  And, "I like the inclusion of 'blog post' style articles."

Design and Content

Our web site's design and content were also scored highly by the judges.  Much of the strength of that content rests on the high quality of our members' ribbon winning images.

Lessons Learned

The judges also included lots of great suggestions on ways to further improve the effectiveness of our web site.  Your web site designer (Chris) and content manager (myself) are already busy planning and implementing improvements that will make our club information easier to use, facilitate feedback by site users, and streamline club business such as membership and competition entry.
